Doughnuts, Hot Chocolate, And Coffee

Monday blues? Let the 8th graders brighten your Monday morning with doughnuts, hot chocolate, and coffee! All items are $1, and all proceeds go towards the 8th grade class gift to Valley Preparatory School.

Reserved Parking Spaces

Please remember that four of the parking spaces in the lower parking lot are reserved. We kindly ask families not to use these reserved spots. Please note that additional reserved spaces remain available for purchase. Contact the office for further details.

Pedestrian Gate

On Tuesday, September 25 we will begin locking the pedestrian gate between the lower and upper parking lots during school hours. Visitors will need to buzz the front office for entry. We greatly appreciate everyone’s cooperation!

PowerSchool Update

One of our goals this year is to transition from TeacherEase to PowerSchool (what is PowerSchool?), a process which began nearly a year ago.

PowerSchool will enable us to better-track student progress and ensure that each child receives the support he/she requires. Thanks to the hard work of Mrs. Pendery in recent months, the system is just about ready to be “opened-up” to parents. Teachers have already begun using the system to record daily attendance and assignment-scores, and upper-grade students were recently granted access to check their “pages” where homework, class work, and project assignments are posted.

The next step in this implementation process is for us to ensure that student grades are being properly calculated by the system, according to our parameters. This work is now continuing. Accordingly, we remain hopeful of granting access to the parents on or before September 21.

Join us on September 24 at 8:00 a.m. for a brief curriculum update and PowerSchool demo, followed by frappes with friends with Mrs. Johnson.

Fundraising While You Shop

It's time to think about those holidays that are just around the corner. Start thinking and plan for your Scrip orders for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Since we have several weeks off during the holidays, it's a good idea to order gift cards now so they have time to come to the school for a timely delivery. Don’t forget that you can also order Office Depot or Staples Scrips to make sure you can get those last minute school supplies.

As of August 28, 2018, our rebates from Scrip sales were $353.44. I encourage all of you who have not started your family Scrip program to dive in and help us reach our goal of $10,000 for this school year. Check out our ROAR newsletter for all the details.

Book Fair

We will be hosting a school book fair the week of September 17-24 in room 13. Come visit, and purchase books. Our book fairs help support our school library with new books. There are books for all ages and reading levels, so come look at the great selections.

Uniform Reminder

We would like to remind parents that the school has changed uniform vendors to Lands’ End. They will not be available at the school for purchases. All sales are online at Lands' End. There have been no significant changes to the uniform design or colors.
