Our Vision:
To be a 21st-century learning institution that graduates students who are confident communicators, critical thinkers, and problem solvers who are motivated to engage in lifelong learning and empowered to achieve personal and educational goals in a culturally diverse, global community.
Educational Philosophy:
We believe in the importance of holistic learning in which each student finds identity, meaning, and purpose through connections across the curriculum; between the school and their home; between the school and the surrounding community, and beyond. We believe the ideal classroom is student-centered, with hands-on, project-based, and experiential learning opportunities in an environment where students are encouraged to explore their interests and find their passions.
Signature Programs
- International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB-PYP): The IB-PYP is one of the International Baccalaureate’s four programs, providing a curricular framework for students in preschool thru fifth grade. Using a transdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning, the program aims to provide opportunities for students to make connections across the curriculum, thereby encouraging the development of such important skills as problem-solving and critical thinking. Primarily a language-based program, it values the inclusion of foreign languages as core elements of the overall curriculum.
- STEAM Program: Working within the framework of the IB-PYP, our STEAM program uses a hands-on, project-based approach to create connections across the curriculum, with an emphasis on math, science, and technology.
- Art, music, foreign languages, PE, library: Since the school’s founding in 1957, considerable emphasis has been placed on the importance of “specialist” classes which aim to provide opportunities for students to explore their interests and find their passions.
