Like other independent schools, Valley Preparatory operates without financial support from local, state or federal governments, and seeks charitable support from all of the Valley Prep community, including The Board of Trustees, current and past parents, alumni, faculty and staff, and friends. Efforts coordinated by the development office help to close the gap that tuition and fees alone do not cover in educating each student.

Valley Preparatory encourages everyone to give to the Annual Fund. Remember, giving to the Annual Fund is the most effective way that your dollars can directly benefit the school!

Why is Participation in the Annual Fund so important?

Making a donation to the Annual Fund Campaign, at any level, reflects a vote of confidence and signifies that parents believe in the mission of Valley Preparatory School and all that if offers their children. Parents have a vested interest in the success of their child’s school; donating to the campaign which benefits the school in the most direct financial way exemplifies that vested interest.

Why do we not ask Corporations or Foundations to participate in the Annual Fund Campaign?

While corporations and foundations will often entertain requests for capital and endowment donations, they generally do not support the daily operating budget for non-profit organizations. This defines the focus of the Annual Fund, and the tool for providing support to the efforts that benefit your children daily.

Foundations, corporations and individual donors can be strongly motivated to support an institution through the example set by the parent body, as this demonstrates belief in the school and its programs. This is why all independent schools aim for 100% parent participation in the Annual Fund Campaign.

What do Annual Fund dollars support?

Donations to the Annual Fund campaign have helped fund academic, extracurricular, and facility/equipment improvements.

As with all independent schools, charitable gifts are necessary. Valley Prep relies on tuition, special events and a strong Annual Giving Campaign to fund its programs and sustain the outstanding education the school provides each of its students. Gifts to Annual Giving help keep our tuition reasonable and competitive with other independent schools. Contributions to the Annual Fund are completely tax-deductible. It is the best gift you can give to Valley Preparatory and the best investment into your child’s educational future.
